1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files saved in your browser when you visit a website. In addition to cookies, similar technologies such as your browser’s local storage (localStorage) may be used for the same purposes.
2. Cookies and technologies we use
- Strictly necessary cookies: required to keep your session running, verify your sign-in and keep the site secure. Donations and account functions do not work without these cookies.
- Local storage for preferences: the contents of your donation basket and your interface preferences (e.g. dashboard view) are kept in your device’s local storage; they are not sent to our servers as identifying information.
- Payment provider cookies: the 3D Secure–enabled payment institutions you are redirected to at the payment step may use their own strictly necessary cookies for transaction security. These cookies are subject to the relevant institution’s policy.
- Language and country preselection: On your first visit, the country code determined from your IP address is kept in session storage (sessionStorage) until the tab is closed; whether the automatic language selection has already taken place and the language you chose yourself are noted in local storage (see the Privacy Policy, section 9).
Our site does not use advertising, retargeting or third-party tracking cookies.
3. How can you manage cookies?
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If strictly necessary cookies are blocked, sign-in and donations may not work properly. You can also clear local storage entries in the site data section of your browser.
4. Contact
